Walter O’Connell, Managing Director of Hotel Valuation & Cost Segregation Services, LLC (HVCSS) is responsible for a variety of valuation services, which include the valuation of tangible assets for purchase price allocation, financing, tax depreciation, insurance and cost segregation studies. Walt has extensive experience in Furniture, Fixture & Equipment valuation (FF&E) and Cost Segregation Studies within the hospitality industry. Walter holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Kean University of New Jersey and a Master of Arts degree in Economics from Montclair State University of New Jersey. Walt continues to strengthen his credentialing by not only taking, but also teaching, technical courses in the fields of Personal Property Valuation and Cost Segregation.

Background

Prior to founding Hotel Valuation & Cost Segregation Services, LLC (‘HVCSS’), Walter worked as a manger for a mid-sized, Philadelphia based, full-service valuation firm. Before starting his valuation career, Walt worked in the manufacturing and distribution sectors as an Buyer/Planner/Forecaster & Inventory Control Manager for Newell Rubbermaid (NYSE:CHX) and Marcolin S.P.A.. While working as an Inventory Control Manager, Walter specialized in Material Requirements Planning (“MRP”) and Manufacturing Resource Planning (“MRP II”), in matters of national and international purchasing, the procurement of production equipment, plant and production design, cost allocation studies, and inventory accounting.

Walt is an Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) with the American Society of Appraisers, Member of the American Society of Cost Segregation Professionals (ASCSP), and American Economic Association.
